Oy... nothin' really to write... on my BLOG anyways. Writing-wise... just finished chapter 11 and- no time to waste!- am jumping right in to chap12 (only, that needs to be written by hand first, so I'll miss my little computer screen...) Is it right to post a pre-milestone-marker? *grin* I'm at 180 pages now... only one to one and a half more chapters before I hit the big 2-0-0 mark! Exciting for one who hasn't hit that mark in over three years... >.o Anywho. I've got writing to do, as you can see. Will possibly think of something more interesting or witty or funny to post in the next couple days or so... MAYBE...

(if you want something more interesting to read, see Tahlia's blog http://phaeravelsgatherings.blogspot.com/ *wink at Tahlia*)

PS. (an' I wanna know... *giggle* who chose Tinara on the fav characters poll? *wink*)

Of sliding glass doors...

In our house, we have multiple interior glass doors. Don't ask me why, but that's the way the house was built and they're actually quite nice. Unless, of course, you don't notice that the door is shut. Pretty much everyone in our house has run into one once- often more than once (even the dog!) However, two minutes ago, we got the best one ever. My grandfather. He was walking from the guest room to the kitchen with a cup of coffee and failed to notice the door was closed. He walked into it and coffee went everywhere! It was hilarious! (and my grandfather is the sort of person that thought it was hilarious too) Hilarious... now excuse me while I go clean up the mess....

Status Report-

"-your pants are on fire." (sorry... a movie line quoted in our house a bunch) Well, I finished the initial writing of chapter 11! (it's still in my notebook, but hopefully the notebook-to-computer transformation won't take TOO long...) Currently (meaning, as of chapter 10) the entire thing is 165 pages long! Considering what still has to happen, I've probably got at least that same amount left to write. *sigh and shakes head* And all this before June... well, really, May 30th or so. That was my dream-deadline for finishing Ahrn, but we'll see.

Well, ki-kalon... I'm off to work on that notebook-to-computer transformation!

Ever notice...

...how we'll say "I can't" when we REALLY mean "I'm not good at that"? It's almost funny... pride through and through. Instead of admitting we're not good at something, we make it sound like we're the victim or something- "I CAN'T do that..." *shakes head* What silly creatures we mortals be...

Priceless... pt2

Coffee and a scone at Starbucks for two- $2
A gallon of gas- $1.85
Watching your sibs respond to the surprise guest- PRICELESS!!

It was a dreary Saturday. Mom and I were running errands... one of which included running by Tahlia's house to pick up some produce from her mom. To make a long story short- we managed to 'kidnap' Tahli for the rest of the day!! (had to give her back on Sunday tho'... :-P) Most of the rest of that day, however, was spent running errands. ANYHOW, we managed to keep it from the rest of the family (who Mom called every so often) that we had her with us. So- we walk in the door, I see my bro, Ange (Andrew), first. I say "Hey Ange- we brought something special for dinner!" He looks at me and says "Pizza, right?" Me: "Yeah... but something else." By this point, Tahlia's standing RIGHT BESIDE ME.... Ange is just staring at me like I'm crazy (which I am, but I digress...) It took about ten seconds for him to notice her. The look of shock and surprise on his face was truly priceless. (wasn't it, Tahli?) :-D

But it got better. My sis, Ellie, walked into the room soon afterwards. She was looking for something else and walked in "Hi." Me: "Hi...?" It took her at least five seconds of looking my direction to notice Tahli. *smacks forehead* But her reaction was even better. She jumped into the air with an even BETTER look of shock and surprise- "AHH!" :-D Needless to say, Tahlia and I enjoyed that immensely... :-D

The last one was best, though. We were unloading groceries, and Tahlia was helping. Dad had been at the other end of the house when we came in. But he came over to help. Coincidence would have it that Dad came out the garage door right as Tahlia was walking IN. DAD jumped and shouted... but he recovered his dignity a little better than El and Ange... :-D What a day...

Tonight I got inspiration for "Priceless- pt3", but I MUST go get some writing in while I have the opportunity... update: chap11 is roughly 13 handwritten pages now... and the following chapters are starting to come together in my mind quite nicely... mwahahaha.....

To all my friends...

Since I have nothing else to post...

I've decided to give up on English. This is why:

1) The bandage was wound around the wound.
2) The farm was used to produce produce.
3) The dump was so full that it had to refuse more refuse.
4) We must polish the Polish furniture.
5) He could lead if he would get the lead out.
6) The soldier decided to desert his dessert in the desert.
7) Since there's no time like the present, it's time to present the present.
8) A bass was painted on the head of the bass drum.
9) When shot at, the dove dove into the bushes.
10) I did not object to the object.
11) The insurance was invalid for the invalid.
12) There was a row among the oarsmen about how to row.
13) They were too close to the door to close it.
14) The buck does funny things when the does are present.
15) A seamstress and a sewer fell down into a sewer line.
16) To help with planting, the farmer taught his sow to sow.
17) The wind was too strong to wind the sail.
18) After a number of injections my jaw got number.
19) Upon seeing the tear in the painting I shed a tear.
20) I had to subject the subject to a series of tests.
21) How can I intimate this to my most intimate friend?

Let's face it: English is a crazy language. There is no egg in eggplant nor ham in hamburger; neither apple nor pine in pineapple. English muffins weren't invented in England or French fries in France. Sweetmeats are candies while sweetbreads, which aren't sweet, are meat.

We take English for granted. But if we explore its paradoxes, we find that quicksand can work slowly, boxing rings are square and a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig. And why is it that writers write but fingers don't fing, grocers don't groce and hammers don't ham?

If the plural of tooth is teeth, why isn't the plural of booth, beeth? One goose; 2 geese. So one moose; 2 meese? One index; 2 indices? Isn't it crazy that you can make amends but not one amend. If you have a bunch of odds and ends and get rid of all but one of them, what do you call it? If teachers taught, why didn't preachers praught? If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?

Sometimes I think all the English speakers should be committed to an asylum for the verbally insane. In what language do people recite at a play and play at a recital, ship by truck and send cargo by ship? Have noses that run and feet that smell? How about this? You park in the driveway and drive on the parkway? How can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same, while a wise man and a wise guy are opposites?

You have to marvel at the unique lunacy of a language in which your house can burn up as it burns down, in which you fill in a form by filling it out and in which, an alarm goes off by going on. English was invented by people, not computers, and it reflects the creativity of the human race, which, of course, is not a race at all. That is why, when the stars are out, they are visible; but when the lights are out, they are invisible.

PS. Why doesn't "Buick" rhyme with "quick"?

oh, but "coming soon" is: Priceless... pt2.... mwahahaha.... *conspirator's wink at Tahlia*

well, while I hope to soon write a brief 'story history' for myself... now is not the day. So I'll merely say that chap1o has been released (meaning, 'is semi-edited/finish) and I'm about halfway through chap'a11. Things seem to be going well... aside from the fact that I currently have few ideas as to how to preserve the life of the main character... not good...

Priceless

A Dell Inspiron - $500
An iPod Nano- $200
Watching your sister tip over a table and crush both-
priceless.

:-D And so it went this morning. El was tipping too far back in her chair and knocked over the table that is her desk- AND fell on top of it, pinning both her laptop and iPod underneath. Fortunately, nothing was damaged (including Ellie). But man oh man... the look on her face when she started going over... *shakes head laughing* It was worth cleaning up the stack of strewn papers and mangled cords afterward. :-D

A pack of gum- $.50
A Fruit Roll-up- $.75
Watching your little brother confuse the two-
priceless.

Seems it was my day for priceless reactions. My little bros came home with goodies from their class this afternoon, and Josh (4) had brought home a fruit roll-up. Being the sweet little guy he is, he offered me a tiny piece. I thanked him, popped it in my mouth, chewed a few times, then swallowed. Then continued making lunch. A few minutes later, Davy (6) enters the scene. Josh is telling him how I 'swallowed gum'. He looks at me, eyes wide. "WHAT??? YOU SWALLOWED IT?????"

That face was CLASSIC. Oh I wish I'd had a camera. Eventually I got Davy convinced that it was NOT gum. Never brought Josh to the same conclusion, however. :-) Heard the 'big sister swallowed gum' story a few more times in the next hour, but apparently everyone else knew that it indeed was only a fruit roll-up.

Can't help but wonder.... what does Josh think it is?

"I love technology"...

...when it works. And lately, that hasn't been the case. Right when I desperately need our network (internet) to work- it blows. Constantly and consistently. Takes a fair bit of time to restore too- time I really could be using elsewhere. As I told Dad, 'if that network was one o' my characters, it would be enduring horrible torture right now' :-D

BLEH. What was that verse about enduring trials again? ;)

"To err is human, and to blame it on a computer is even more so..."
